Pandora Radio – Great Free Solution for Building Training Class Playlists

October 12th, 2008

I’ve finally found a solution to running around before a training class trying to put together a playlist of music for morning, breaks, etc. – then racing to iTunes to purchase the songs. It’s Pandora Radio and it’s my new favorite website (for both work and home use). The site builds a free Internet radio station custom tailored to your music preferences.

Pandora is powered by the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken, the Music Genome Project: a project started back in early 2000 to capture the complex musical DNA of songs using a large team of highly-trained musicians. Simply enter a song title or artist and the site creates a playlist of songs that have a similar feel to them. As songs are selected, you give them the “thumbs up” or thumbs down” – playlists are stored (if you choose to create a free web account – very fast and simple). And – did I mention – it’s FREE! Woo Hoo! If you really like the song – you have the option to purchase – but it’s not necessary.

Give it a try – and let us know what you think of it.
